The 8 steps below identify the step-by-step process to becoming and remaining an effective participant in the XL Social Enterprise Accreditation Programme.
  Choose your Cause
  Nominate a non-profit organisation that your company will be supporting. We define such a Cause as a registered organisation, NGO, association etc, with an office address and a website for verification. You may change your Nominated Cause from year to year, however we recommend that you remain committed to the same Cause, and that there is a relevant link between your company and your Cause that your customers will resonate with.  
 
  Make your Commitment
  Decide on the amount you pledge towards your Cause. This is not a firm commitment, but an expression of your intent. For example, if you want to aim for a US$10,000 donation each year, you might pledge US$100,000 which you hope to deliver over ten years. Pledges can be changed and are not firm, but they give you and your Cause something to aim for. In addition, your annual target donation is your target for the donation you aim to make during the next twelve month period. This must be a minimum of US$1,000. You may, in addition to your financial pledge, make a pledge of volunteer time or other resources to your Cause. These can be just as valuable and added to your annual contribution.  
  Submit your Application Form
  Submit your completed application form together with minimum contribution receipts of US$1,000 (of the current year). We also advise that you let your Nominated Cause know that you will be contributing to them as part of the SEA programme. You may find them to be very supportive in assisting you by supplying you with relevant information for your customers and testimonials for your support. You will find a sample letter enclosed in the Welcome Pack that you will receive, that you can modify for this purpose.  
  Display your Commitment
  Once you have received your SEA Programme Certificate, use the official logos and wording in your stationery, marketing materials, advertising, signage and on your website. Educate your customers on the social enterprise aspect of your business.  
  Build your Business
  Focus on growing your business and maximising your profit. Utilise the resources available to you through your membership of the XL Results Foundation.  
  Make your Contribution
  Make your contributions direct to your Nominated Cause, and ensure that you receive receipts. This might be on a monthly, project or an annual basis. Organise a cheque presentation with your Nominated Cause if possible, as this is powerful promotion for both yourself and your Nominated Cause.   Register your Results
  Each year, submit to XL your results using the Annual Declaration Form, together with contribution receipts. These declarations will re-register you in the programme for the following year and will form the basis for monitoring progress towards the Billion Dollar Challenge.  
  Improve every Year
  Share your participation in the SEA Programme with your customers, partners, investors and staff. Each year, grow your business and seek new initiatives to grow the contributions you make. Donating 10% of pre-tax profits is a minimum criteria, but with the right initiatives you may end up contributing significantly more.
